My first double barreled creation begins with my Vintage 11 year tequila, it is then transferred for additional aging into small relatively new Tennessee Whiskey Barrels that I re-charred once they arrived in Mexico. The result is what we call El Carbonzado.

El Carbonzado refers to the use of Tennessee whiskey barrels to further age and influence the base AsomBroso tequila. A prime component of excellent Tennessee whiskey is the use of charcoal as a filtration medium and flavor enhancing catalyst. The inside of the barrels are actually charred which caramelizes the wood and provides full contact with the charred surface during the aging process. The use of the whiskey barrels to further age the AsomBroso Anejo creates a tequila with a smokey, earthy influence that is smooth with a slightly charred finish. Hence, the El Carbonzado moniker
